Musculoskeletal Assessment For Yoga Teachers (20 hours, Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners and Teachers is recommended prior to attending MA)

This course builds upon the material learned in Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners and Teachers with the intention of further developing a teacher’s observational and assessment skills to enhance their practice and work with students and private clients.  Students will learn musculoskeletal assessment techniques by developing their knowledge of:

  • mobility & flexibility
  • facilitated vs. inhibited movement
  • symmetry
  • range of motion
  • tone vs. atrophy
  • balance
  • perceived source of pain

While the skills are best used in a one-on-one environment, the practitioner or teacher can benefit from a greater understanding of these evaluation techniques for use in a group setting.  Learning will take place through group and one-on-one study.  Basic yoga postures will set the observation platform.
