When did your studio open? April 1, 2015
Why did you open your studio? A majority of my students since 2011 had been moms I’d met in prenatal yoga classes, and after their babies were born, I’d hear so often that their yoga practice suffered or stopped completely (when they needed it most). There were no local studios with childcare options. When none of the studios I taught at were interested in my proposal of implementing a childcare program, I decided to take the leap and create something different – a family-friendly yoga, barre, and pilates studio! While we welcome ALL students (men too!), most of our teachers do have some pre/postnatal expertise and cater to women’s health. In December of 2015, I took over The Pierce Yoga Program in Atlanta, adding a second location.
How many classes a week do you offer at your studio? 20-25 classes between two locations and at least 1 babysitting option each day.
What types of classes do you offer? A variety of yoga classes, including prenatal, pilates mat, barre, and barre-yoga fusion. We also rent space to the Pregnancy Massage Center, Acupuncture for Moms, and Labor of Love Doulas (birth and parenting classes).
Is there anything unique or special that your studio offers (promotions, good-will, etc.)? Once per month, we host a free yoga class for returning Peace Corps volunteers, and we are a meeting space for the (NEW) Atlanta Birth Center fundraising committee. Also, Shonali Banerjee leads a free women’s circle on a Friday evening on a monthly basis.
Anything else you’d like our teachers to know about your studio? Non-moms and men ARE WELCOME!
Do you have a “guest housing” program for teachers who might like to attend a training at your studio? Not at this time.
