2017 saw the roll-out of our official Pranakriya Director-in-Training Program. Five individuals stepped forward to apply and express their interest in becoming Directors for our school. It is quite a rigorous training program which takes 3-5 years to complete. Over the next few months we will be introducing you to these amazing PK teachers and trainees.
PROGRAM YOU ARE IN TRAINING TO LEAD: Basic Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
WHY DID YOU JOIN THE DIT PROGRAM? I want to share all that I’ve learned with other yoga teachers, so that they can serve women in this most pivotal time in their lives. My private practice is Mother-to-Mother Massage & Yoga Therapy. I’ve been serving this population since 2000.
FAVORITE HOBBIES/PASTIMES: In addition to yoga? I love to sing! I also love theatre and dance (attending, not performing, although I do love to dance)! I also love walking with my Great Dane, Leon.
FAVORITE FOOD: Kale (or pizza). I actually do love kale, but pizza is a perfect food. Also perfectly ripe peaches. And Quinoa Tabouli.
FAVORITE RECIPE: Quinoa Tabouli from the Body Ecology Cookbook by Donna Gates
FAVORITE PERSON(S): My family! Husband Scot, and daughters Lili and Emma. Plus the fur kids, Leon (Great Dane), India (Black Longhair Cat), and George (Orange Tabby/Japanese Bobtail)
FAVORITE QUOTE: “Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be “follow the butterflies”? – Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)
FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATION: The beach! Fabulous cities: New York, Paris, London
WHAT ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW? Woman: An Intimate Geography by Natalie Angier. Also re-reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (British version).
WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LIKE TO PRACTICE TO, IF ANY? In my personal practice, I usually practice to the sound of my breath, but I love a great song in a challenging vinyasa class.
UPCOMING GOALS/PLANS THAT YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT: Professionally, I’m excited to be studying Yoga for Pelvic Floor Health with Leslie Howard. I’ve learned so much already, and everyone is interested in this work. Personally, we are buying a townhouse in the Old Fourth Ward of Atlanta, downsizing, and I’m excited to be a short walk from the Beltline.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR PRANAKRIYA PEEPS? Pranakriya Yoga has changed my practice, and my relationship to my body and breath. Meditative Flow is my sweet spot, both in practice and to teach. Prenatal Yoga fits perfectly.
