A life-long Maryland resident and graduate of University of Maryland, Melissa worked as an addictions counselor before becoming a mathematics teacher. After a break to stay home with her children and attend Physician Assistant school, Melissa returned to the classroom and has taught all levels of mathematics, including AP Calculus, for the last 25 years.
Melissa began her practice of yoga in 2008 through local gyms, in an effort to improve physical health. Through classes with Kimberly Murphy, she began to deepen her studies and credits yoga with helping her through some very challenging times in her life. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2020, and looks forward to sharing yoga with others, as well as pursuing further study for herself.
Melissa enjoys spending time with her daughters and three grandchildren, knitting and crocheting, reading, and a recent return to cycling.
