With the Covid-19 pandemic many of us are feeling a disruption in our lifestyle and in our practices. For some the stress makes it more difficult to practice and for others we have more time available to practice.
Pranakriya will offer the Spiritual Doorways in a retreat format the week of Dec 5-13. The actual Doorways program will be held over 2 weekends, Dec 5-6 and Dec 12-13. For those who chose to make this a retreat experience, extra practice and integration sessions will be held between the program weekends.
Yoganand will lead two additional practices, on Tue Dec 12/8 and Thur Dec 12/10. These classes will be an exploration of the practices covered the previous weekend, and are intended to deepen the students understanding of those practices.
An additional integration session will be held Wednesday night Dec 16. In this group session facilitated by Yoganand Michael Carroll, students are encouraged to share their experiences from the practices and may receive guidance from Yoganand if they wish.
These additional experiences are not required to earn the CEU’s for this program and do require an additional fee.
Spiritual Doorways is the program where I teach the most about the Hatha Yoga practices that I learned from Swami Kripalu and that form the foundation of Pranakriya Yoga. In this time of potential strong feelings and strong energies, lets connect with the source and do work that will support our personal and cultural rebirth in the coming year with all its challenges and opportunities. -Yoganand Michael Carroll
COURSE DESCRIPTION: In the ancient Tantric Hatha Yoga traditions, yogis developed and practiced asanas as part of a biologically based spiritual technology. They practiced specific breathing patterns, internal focal points, and visualizations, for the purpose of inducing spiritual experiences. They raised their biological energy (prana) to very high states, causing transformation in perception and experience of Self. Most ancient yoga texts, including the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, were based on these experiences of altered states of consciousness. In this program we will use Swami Kripalu’s approach to asana to explore lesser-known techniques that can be used to enrich the practice of yoga.
