Musculoskeletal Assessment for Yoga Teachers *VIRTUAL*
This course builds upon the material learned in Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners and Teachers with the intention of further developing a teacher’s observational and assessment skills to enhance their practice and work with students. While the skills are best used in a one-on-one environment, the practitioner or teacher can benefit from a greater understanding of assessment techniques for use in a group setting. Students will learn musculoskeletal assessment techniques by developing their knowledge of: mobility & flexibility, facilitated vs. inhibited, agonist vs. antagonist, symmetry, range of motion, tone vs. atrophy, balance and perceived source of pain. Learning will take place through group observation and one-on-one assessments. Basic yoga postures will set the observation platform.
Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners and Teachers or similar course is recommended prior to attending (not sure if this course is right for you? Ask us! firstname.lastname@example.org). This program is led by two directors.
This course provides 20 YA CEUs, and is a requirement for Pranakriya’s 300-hour certification program. It is a requirement as of 2021, replacing Holding Space. If you have already taken Holding Space, you may take this course as an elective for the 300-hour program.
*Please note: For health and safety concerns, this program is being held virtually via Zoom*
