A Heartfelt Reflection: Cultivating Aliveness On and Off the Mat

An End of Year Message from Executive Director, Niisa Morton

Dear Pranakriya Community,

As this year draws to a close, we find ourselves in a space of reflection, filled with immense gratitude for the mindful practice we share through Pranakriya Yoga. We have worked to recognize the physical, mental, and emotional aspects inherent in each moment, bringing what is discovered on the mat into daily life. This past year has been a testament to the strength and resilience of our sangha (community) as we have gathered, both in person and online, to explore the transformative power of yoga. It has been a joy to witness the depth of meaningful connections made and the personal inquiry you have all undertaken.

As a school, Pranakriya has continued to provide programs and experiences that encourage personal reflection and challenge you to play with the edges of your comfort zones, helping you feel fully alive and share that aliveness with others.

Here are some year end highlights we are especially thankful for:

  • We provided eighteen 300hr level programs for teachers and practitioners to explore advanced practices and opportunities to complete their 300hr Yoga Teacher Certificate.

  • A 200hr Yoga Teacher Training began at Crofton Yoga that will graduate a new group of Pranakriya teachers in May 2026.

  • The Panama Retreat "Expanded, Rooted, Fully Alive!", led by Kim Murphy, Usha Lakshmi, and Yoganand Michael Carroll, brought students and teachers together for inspiring practices and excursions through Boquete full of churning, Sangha, and a greater sense of aliveness!

  • Our community came together in celebration for our International Day of Yoga and Serene September fundraising events, which raised money for Pranakriya’s operating expenses.

We continue to grow our community (Sangha) through our studios, in person and online. The thread that weaves us together—through shared practice, support, and interactive communication—is the foundation of our Pranakriya community. We've seen friendships blossom and hearts open, proving that connection is vital to our growth.

As we look ahead, we are inspired by the potential for new beginnings. We have exciting offerings planned for 2026 and hope that you join us as you continue along your yogic path. Here are ways you can connect with the Pranakriya community:

  • Join ”The Sangha” Online Community,  a shared space where current 200 YTT students, PKTA Members, and Sangha members have access to live and recorded classes, workshops, and community events.

  • Complete your advanced yoga teacher certification or continue your education by attending one of our upcoming Teacher Training programs. 200-hour Yoga Teacher trainings will be offered at Raven’s Wing Yoga (CT) and Main Street Yoga (IL) in addition to 300-hour level programs at Crofton Yoga (MD), Whole Body Yoga (PA), Victory Power Yoga (NC), and Wilmington Yoga Center (NC), with more to come.

  • Join us for our March Retreat, Awakening the Seed: Cultivating Prana for Spring Renewal led and facilitated by Program Directors Pam Blum, Emily Gretz, Shelbi Miles, and Vlad Tchakarov.

  • Consider making a donation to help us continue offering quality educational training programs and certifications. Visit PKSYHA Donation Page for more information.

And finally, we would like to acknowledge all those that have contributed to our community this year through seva, selfless service. Our organization is a collaboration of volunteers that offer their professional experience and expertise to the school. We rely on the volunteerism of our board of directors, program directors, studio owners and students to maintain the operation of the school so we may focus on providing quality programs that are affordable and accessible to all students. If you are interested in being part of our team and offering your skill set, please contact us at info@pranakriya.com. We are currently focused on strategic planning, fundraising, grant writing and marketing.

As we start the new year, we encourage you to carry the strength and awareness you’ve cultivated this year into the next. We are deeply grateful for your trust and commitment to this path. The spirit in us honors the spirit in you.

With a heart full of gratitude,

Niisa Morton, Executive Director
