The Quest by Christa Lutz

The beginning….

Whole Body Yoga Studio was an incredible introduction to Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts through the course, Understanding the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, taught by Founder & director Yoganand Michael Carroll & Director William Hufschmidt. Their knowledge, storytelling, practices, pranayamas, and meditations placed me in a timeless space.

Completely immersed on all levels, it was a sacred journey into this ancient 15th-century yogic text.

This beautiful experience led me on my own personal exploration of self. Traveling and training in a Vinyasa discipline, I learned and received so many gifts from all my teachers along the way. Upon my return home, I engaged back at the Whole Body Yoga Studio community where I felt most at home. An offering of 200-hour Teacher Training was happening soon. Spending time reflecting about this training, I, feeling not fully connected in my own practice, like floating in the ocean on the surface, decided to reach out to studio owner Patty to discuss further. She was on vacation and responded right away about hearing my thoughts and sharing the many blessings about the Pranakriya 200-hour teacher training. She sent me the application and I was ready to dive in. The Director was Vladimir for my 200-hour training. Vlad from day one created this safe, sacred space for all of us to learn about the history of Pranakriya, explore the traditions, witness, and seek our own unique path. I’m eternally grateful for Vlad sharing his profound knowledge in yogic history & philosophy, teaching & safe assisting, anatomy, pranayamas, meditation and the significance of Swami Kripalu’s teachings. Related: Vulnerability and Non-Attachment by Vladimir Tchakarov

This 9-month life-changing experience revealed many gifts I packed with me on my student, teaching, and life journey.

The 200-hour teacher training and being a forever student of yoga further inspired me to explore my 300-hour teacher training with Pranakriya. The directors have all shared their incredible knowledge and passion in each course. Pranakriya provides this unique opportunity within the 300-hour program, along with amazing required courses, one can hand-select other offerings that speak to you personally. All the directors have spent many years training prior to teaching the programs. Their compassion, commitment, knowledge, and creating a safe environment to explore within is a true blessing. The experience on the mat is amazingly fulfilling. Creating a connection with the Pranakriya community, I’m taking those gifts of "aliveness” off the mat and out into the world.

In the end, I've come to believe in something I call ‘The Physics of the Quest.’ A force in nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity. The rule of Quest Physics goes something like this: If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you. Elizabeth Gilbert
